HERBAL GARDENTotal Area - 12000 Sq. mtr. Herbal garden of BSDT’S Ayurved Mahavidyalaya is spread over 12000 square meters area in the college premises. It comprises of more than 270 plant species, ranging from small herbs like Brahmi, Madukparni to trees like Madhuka, Arjuna, Kanchanara etc. It also accommodates rare and important plants like Rudraksha, Vijaysara, Chandana, Guggulu etc. Students are often taught Dravyaguna in the arboretum itself to impart and enhance their visual memory for better identification and understanding of the drugs. List of species in Medicinal Plant Garden (Total : 270) Total No. of Medicinal Plants - 6793 Lotus Project : Dravyaguna Department of BSDTAM has started a project to cultivate the original Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) in the campus. The original lotus plants are being cultivated in a constructed pond of 15 X 15 X 4.5 feet. The plants have started bearing flowers now. The flowers are used in medicine preparation. MEDICINAL PLANT NURSERY BSDT's Dravyaguna department has developed a medicinal plant Nursery with the help of Institute and Trust. It provides various plants for the plantation in and out of the campus. The saplings are also given for plantation to other institutes. The nursery has developed more than 500 saplings of Guduchi and the grown Guduchi stem is being used in the Kashaya form for the prevention of COVID-19 in the institute. BSDT's Ayurved Mahavidyalaya is developing a garden for the conservation of endangered species. Various endemic and endangered plants are planted and are taken care of since 2015. Some of the plants are now growing happily adapting the atmosphere of Wagholi and have started blooming while some are bearing fruits. Averrhoa carambola – Star Fruit plant flowers and fruits Aquilaria agallocha – Agarawood in flowering Aguru is a Himalayan plant, has adapted the atmosphere of Wagholi and is now pleasantly flowering. Saracaasoca – Sita Ashoka Flowering Acorus calamus - Vacha flowering Woodfordia floribunda - Dhataki flowering Hemidesmus indicus - Sariva flowering Calophyllum inophyllum - Punnaga flowering and fruiting Triphala Garden : BSDT's Ayurved Mahavidyalaya has developed Garden of Triphala plants (Haritaki, Bibhitaki and Amalaki) for in-house use of the fruits for medicines. The garden is developed. The trees have grown remarkably and the garden has become a good biodiversity spot for number of birds and butterflies.
